VMware vSphere 6.7 has been announced by VMware recently and there are many enhancement and new features are available with this release. In this post am sharing details about update manger in vSphere 6.7 .With vSphere 6.7 version update manager module consists of a server component and client components for the vSphere Client (an HTML5-based GUI) and the vSphere Web Client (a Flex-based GUI).

  1. A patch is installed. The ESXi host is rebooted. The ESXi host is reconnected to vCenter. The ESXi host exits the maintenance mode. The process of ESXi patching starts for the next ESXi host. How to Use vSphere Update Manager to Patch ESXi Hosts. Let’s explain what’s involved in using VMware Update Manager for upgrading ESXi 6.5 to ESXi 6.7.
  2. Staging patches and extensions is an optional step that can reduce the time during which hosts are in maintenance mode. Staging patches and extensions to hosts that are running ESX/ESXi 4.0 or later lets you download the patches and extensions from the Update Manager server to the ESX/ESXi hosts without applying the patches or extensions.
